CMS
Technologies founders sought to help
network administrators at the University
of Michigan who were in search of a
computer security solution superior to
cables and locks or a costly video
surveillance system. They found the
answer in the Ethernet network that
connected all of the computers: they
conceived an innovative method of
utilizing this existing network wiring to
centrally monitor the physical
connectivity of computers.Realizing
the uniqueness and potential broad appeal
of this idea, the founders incorporated
the company and
filed for a patent on the concept called
EtherLockTM.
Today,
CMS Technologies manufactures and markets
Asset Control Automation system based on
the company's proprietary EtherLockTM
technology. CMS Technologies
distributes the EtherLock product line
through resellers of security systems,
computer equipment as well as IT service
providers. End-users that include General
Motors, Ford Motor Company, Levi-Strauss,
Princeton University, University of
Michigan and Michigan State University.
